Lysine causes upset stomach

Post by ofonorow » Mon Jul 08, 2013 9:23 am

I have a question I need to pose regarding my husband, who last week had a mild (and first) heart attack. He has started the Pauling protocol and is taking 10
grams of Vitamin c per day, but is having a problem taking the lysine, as it upsets his stomach. I can't seem to find any one else on the forum who
has had this issue, and I have read back several pages. He is taking 2 grams of vitamin C five times a day and is trying to take 500 mg of
free-form lysine (he has tried both powder and capsules) with each dose. Still having some stomach discomfort and I'm afraid this is going to
de-rail him! I asked someone at a health food store today is digestive enzymes might help and they thought not. Perhaps Betaine HCL? Is this an
uncommon problem?

Unusual, yes. Does he take vitamin C and lysine together? He should. Also, he can try to reduce the dosage, but lysine is an amino acid - it does not have to be digested.

To steal ideas from one person is plagiarism. To steal from many is
research!
