high amount of vitamin c

I have been taking 40gms a day of vitamin c for the last 2 months. (35 for a couple of months prior to that and lesser amounts for several months before that). My question is whether there is a concept of "too much" vitamin c? I don't have bowel tolerance issues (other than some gas). Also, I take 6gms of lysine and 5gms of proline. Is that enough?

There is a concept of too much C but in practice it is extremely safe for long term use.

Could you please expound on what you mean by the "concept" exists. What would be the good or bad effects?

All I meant is that some people warn about taking too much for various reasons, like saying it can cause kidney stones, etc., but in practice the problem is people don't take enough. :)

Look up 'titrating to bowel tolerance'.
