Owen:
I love my Cardio-C! It is contributing to my LDL cholesterol decline from 299 to 144 over a 2 year period. (I do take 40mg Crestor along with healthy daily doses of Omega-3 oils).
Wow, 40 mg crestor...that is very scary (in my opinion)...
Re: the "worst" statin cholesterol-lowering drug on the market. (Public Citizen https://www.citizen.org/our-work/health-and-safety/petition-ban-cholesterol-lowering-drug-rosuvastatin-crestor)
First, statin Chol-Lowering drugs do lower cholesterol - artificially. (Vitamin C does it by attacking the root cause. After the "fire" is out, cholesterol naturally declines.)
Canadian, but not USA, doctors are told (as required by Canadian law) that these statin drugs DEPLETE your own production of CoQ10. Now you know, and you can take 200 mg of CoQ10 daily, to overcome this otherwise serious issue. (CoQ10 is the enzyme required inside cells for the production of energy . The incidence of heart failure has at least tripled since these drugs became widespread.)

Public Citizen long ago labeled Crestor the "worst" statin and petitioned for a ban. Here is a CBS news story. (You can google public citizen)

We scanned a copy of the Canadian version of the New England Journal of Medicine. Scroll down to the scans with the Coq10 (and Lp(a)) material hilighted in yellow:

(Again, warnings required in Canada, but not the U. S.)
Cholesterol, it turns out, is a friend, and what the body creates to fight heart disease. Lowering cholesterol is a lot like reducing the number of fire-fighters at a fire.

And this is a very old collection of anti-statin information, FYI

After we posted the above, I used to get calls from the attorneys representing female "health nuts" (usually vegetarians) with organ failure, facing liver and other organ transplants -- after being put on statin drugs (usually for "preventive" purposes.) There is a small amount of CoQ10 in meats, but for those not getting Coq10 in their diet, and taking statins (which lower their own endogenous productions) , especially larger doses (above 10 mg), it is only a matter of time
Off my soap box.
