I have read that one must be careful to take lysine apart from meals and other supplements. Why is that?

Is it ok to take lysine with the ascrobic acid/water, on an empty stomach?

Amino acid share the same absorption pathways, therefore taking different aminos at the same time could out-compete some of them. Not relevant at all for getting enough of the essential amino acids from diet. But with therapeutic doses of individual amino-acids like lysine taking it away from others could give an advantage.

Perfect to take lysine with AA in water. Best 20 minutes before meal and bed.

My personal opinion: when I did a calculation found I get about 3.3 g of proline and 3.4 g of lysine per day from my diet. But other than lysine, proline can also be synthesized endogenously in the human body, also considering the difference in therapeutic dosage recommendations (up to 2 g proline vs. 6 g lysine), I personally would choose lysine over proline. Since I easily can get both, I do take both.
