My question to you:
It would seem to me that 4-7 grams Vit.C would be used up in the cellular structure and there would be not be enough overflow to damage the poorly operating kidney?? I would like to know what happens when vitamin C goes in the cell, is it used up or does most of it go down and out through the kidney? My Doctor believes it would have a bad effect on its chemistry?
Also do you have a 900 number that I could pay you for your Knowledge ?

I am a little over 84 years old, retired
FAA Engineer Engineer Instructor, and about three months ago I had? two minor heart attacks per the cardiologist EKG picture . The only indication that I can remember that I was having a heart attack it was maybe some dizziness I had to lay down on the bed for a half hour but I really have had no heart pain at all. I had been taking quite a few supplements, 22,500 IOU’s D3, and 2 to 4 g of vitamin C every day. But Now I really feel quite well just walking around but I don’t have much, going up a hill, energy presently. I sleep quite well and try to have a diet of Salad and chicken and beef. About a two months ago I got very weak and was taken into hospital. They found my calcium was dangerously high in my blood, and my D3 was over 150. My left kidney was in poor shape. ( don’t understand that) I had found out about 18 years ago my right kidney was shrunk to 65% but before My heart attacks my good kidney was working very well.
But Now I am on blood thinner Eliquis, Hydralazine, Spironolactone, Protonix, Feosol Iron and Taurine. Hoping to get off all Big Phama Chemical medicine. My last blood test Indicated my calcium in the blood was in the high normal range & D3 was down to 96.
I have an integrative doctor and she thinks I should restrict my vitamin C to 1 g a day split 0.5 g morning and 0.5 g evening. She does give vitamin C IVs I’ve had up at 75 g but she thinks by taking more than one gram day of vitamin C the return Vit. C will be hard on my kidney. I question that?
Today bought some 1000 mg L-Lysine to go with my 1000 mg of Vit. C.

First, with due respect to the "integrative doctor," she is wrong. In her defence, she is giving advice based on what she thinks she knows and has been taught. The retort to that advice, is something like, "Why so little, given that most animals, adjusted to my body weight, would make about 9,000 mg of vitamin C - in their livers or kidneys, and which would go directly into the blood stream. Pauling measured and thought we lose about 1/2 of the vitamin C we eat by mouth, which is why he wrote in his book HOW TO LIVE LONGER AND FEEL BETTER that he consumed 18,000 mg daily. "

Now, it is interesting that medical doctors are wary of vitamin C w/r to kidney function. I believe this is based on bad science. You will note that Dr. Humphries (above) is a kidney (renal) specialist, or was until she gave all that up ($300,000/year speciality) to promote the use of vitamin C. Depending on where you live, she, or the old Riordan clinic (in Kansas I believe) might be good places to seek medical advice.
It turns out that before Linus Pauling started taking his high dose vitamin C, (on the advice of Irwin Stone, around age 60 after he got sick), Pauling suffered what was then considered a fatal kidney disease. He worked with a Stanford doctor and reviewed the literature. At that time, patients were prescribed "high protein." Since that advice was killing people with his disease, he went on a LOW PROTEIN diet, drank large amounts of water ( a less viscous urine lowers the workload on the kidneys) and he started taking a daily multivitamin (at his wife's insistence). He survived, and even went on to take and recommend almost 20 grams of vitamin C daily.
The science behind the "oxalate" issue that scares medical doctors is flawed, and it is my personal opinion that a) the more vitamin C the better for the health of the kidney. Yes, it is always wise to slowly increase dosing, (b) hydrating is important, especially given all the drugs you are on. These drugs are infinitely more likely to cause kidney failure, than the vitamin C! In fact, they probably are the cause. Drink a lot of water until the color of your urine is almost clear, (c) follow Pauling's advice and minimize proteins, at least until your kidney function is normal. Try to eat as many fresh fruits and uncooked vegetables as possible for now.
I would start taking more vitamin C, evaluate that, before adding more than 1000 mg of lysine. One variable at a time.
Another healthy trick for your kidneys - try adding 500 mg of CoQ10 daily. Again work up to that dosage.
Now you mentioned that your heart attack was indicated by EKG. We know that a particular form of Vitamin E, called Unique-E (mixed tocopherols) from A. C. Grace, and available from Life Extension (LEF.ORG), can repair the damaged heart muscle, within six months, when taken with high dose vitamin C. This is shown by the reversal of bad EKGs... I think this story is in my book. We also know that low serum vitamin E is a better predictor of heart attack than either high blood pressure or elevated cholesterol.
RE D3. I think your dosage is too high. I am no expert, but there is great value in getting 20-30 minutes of sunlight between 10 a.m and 2 pm. Wear a hat to cover your face, but the sunlight on as much skin as possible not only produces vitamin D (so you could lower to maybe 1000 to 2000 iu in pill form) but sunlight generates cholesterol-sulfate which is necessary and important for good health. Just read a scientific paper postulating that a lack of C-Suf might be implicated in atherosclerosis. Again Chl-Suf is made from sulphur compounds when sunlight hits your skin.
Finally, you say "both books" by Dr. Levy... I know he has written at least 10! Which ones did you read? Here are some of his latest, but there are more, e.g. Uniformed Consent that he wrote with Hal Huggins,
