Research on statins causing heart failure

Post by ofonorow » Mon Jun 23, 2008 9:43 am

Emailer asking about products, says she is on statins on doctors orders

Hmmmm... I know they can lead to liver problems.... do you know where I can find the research on that? Western medicine is so gross.

I would start here, as this web page posts scanned copies of the Canadian version of the New England Journal of Medicine.
http://naturesperfectstatin.com/canada.htm

Note the yellow highlites on the right column.

Canadian doctors are warned that a) statins LOWER circulating CoQ10 levles (which leads to heart failure) and statins b) increase levels of Lp(a), which Pauling identified as the culprit in building plaques.

The FDA does not require these warnings and US Doctors are unaware of these issues.

I also wrote an overview paper:

and finally, this information is in a new book.

http://practicingmedicinewithoutalicense.com/

which I challenge you to give to your cardiologist to read :-)

Yes, and according to Sinatra, measurement is the key to proper CoQ10 supplementation. "Its not how much you take, it is how much is absorbed in the gut. " Requires bile, etc. (There is a lot of knowledge in Sinatra's books because he has measured it in all his patients and has become expert in various products and how to take CoQ10 to maximize its bioavailability.)

However, these blood tests have historically been one of the MOST expensive blood tests, around $400 USD.

I know lef.org used to offer it.. But their web site is so darn slow.. Maybe it will be faster for you .. go to blood tests.
