Great question. Per their conclusion

Vitamin C supplementation is associated with accelerated early atherosclerosis measured by carotid IMT compared to a protective association with vitamin C from food. T

Either Linus Pauling was wrong, or there is something wrong with this study (which we analyzed and wrote about back in 2012).

The carotid IMT measure is the problem. Collagen production that makes the artery healthier can also increase IMT.

Thank you I will look up carotid IMT. I did a search on "Differing Relations to Early Atherosclerosis" on this forum, and got nothing. I'd like to read that discussion from 2012.
