Natural Vitamin C verus the so-called Vitamin C Complex

Post Number:#1  Post by ofonorow » Sat Sep 10, 2022 9:35 am

This topic will discuss the confusion between natural sources of vitamin C (generally good because the vitamin C (ascorbate) is bound with other nutrients in the fruits and vegetables, as opposed to the mythical "Natural Vitamin C Complex," an idea which denies the existence of vitamin C as ascorbic acid. Deniers hold, without any evidence, that "vitamin C" is really a complex of other nutrients.

Not only is the fact that "natural vitamin C" may very well be highly beneficial in smaller amounts than we generally recommend, e.g. the vitamin C in oranges (attached to beneficial forms of calcium), in celery (methylated), in Kiwis and lemons, etc. The "natural" vitamin C bound to sugars in the fruits may lead to better absorption (via the insulin pathway), thus less may do more.

This still doesn't account for our missing (damaged) GULO gene which would produce ascorbate, usually as ascorbic acid, in copious amounts, if working.

Many well-intentioned souls, fooled by the word "natural" and "complex," are unable to discern that the alternative "natural complex" idea is a myth.

There is one vitamin C: Ascorbate, usually in the form of ascorbic acid, is vitamin C. Period!
