I have familiarity with two types - Abbott FreeStyle and the Dexcom G6.

The fact that the FreeStyle technology reacts to vitamin C in the blood as if it were sugar is why we were able to do our studies that showed the unexpected rapid uptake of ascorbic acid through the stomach lining, in 3 minutes!

And Vitamin C has a short 30 minute half-life, so, if you are using the Abbott FreeStyle, measure away from your vitamin C intake. Even an IV/C will quickly dissipate, and remember that while a good sugar is around 90 mg/dl, a good vitamin C in the blood is only about 1.5 mg/dl. So there is generally only a minor effect on the meter from normal vitamin C levels.

My doc switched me to the Dexcom, and it does seem different and doesn't seem to register vitamin C in my blood.
