Debunk? Sure, 500 mg of Vitamin C is the recommended dose taken by smokers; the figures are likely not adjusted for smokers who have five times worse build up. Just like when smokers messed up the BMI statistics when it was initially thought 'slimmer' people had worse longevity than marginally overweight people.
