Animals make ascorbate in their livers, and that's what shows up in their blood. When human beings take one of several kinds of ascorbate (acid, sodium, calcium, etc.), ascorbate is what shows up in our blood. It was good enough for Pauling, and it's good enough for me.

I'm skeptical of all Dahler's points until we see a lot more research. On the cancer topic, Nick Gonzalez's work seems more convincing at this point. In a few years as more and more people follow different cancer treatment protocols maybe we'll have a better idea of whose work holds water and whose doesn't.

Jacquie, that's a good point, and thanks for pointing it out. Animals that make vitamin C don't make bioflavanoids to go with it. Actually they don't make vitamin K either. This may cause a problem for those that are affected by the vitamin C complex complex. I'd like to hear their explanation for that. The gulanolactone oxidase gene doesn't make bioflavanoids with the ascorbate. Hmmm.........

It's also a bell-ringer that this Pieter Dahler is listed as "Dr, DDS, MD (which is actually redundant for Dr) ND and PhD. What's he trying to prove? Oh yes, and does anyone know what "hon" means? Is that honorable? Such a long list of titles, yet he's never bothered to study up on what vitamin C is. I agree that after all these titles he should add BS.
