18 studies conducted between 1970 and 2016, after tracking more than 2 million participants, the studies revealed that they have no effect on heart disease (study author- Dr. Joonseok Kim).
Older Brits with Highest Blood Levels of Vitamins C have Lowest Mortality Rates
A 2003 study from the UK measured Vitamin C blood levels:
RESULTS: Strong inverse relationship for blood ascorbate (vitamin C) concentrations with all-cause and cardiovascular disease mortality, Those in the lowest fifth (< 17 micromol/L) had the highest mortality, whereas those in the highest fifth (> 66 micromol/L) had a mortality risk nearly half that (hazard ratio = 0.54; 95% CI: 0.34, 0.84). In fully adjusted models, there was no evidence for an influence of alpha-tocopherol (vitamin-E), beta-carotene, or retinol (vitamin-A) on total mortality.
Antioxidant Vitamins and Mortality in Older Persons

A recent study by Dr. Bruce H. Pomeranz, the principal investigator and neuroscience professor at the University of Toronto, sheds light on this phenomenon. Dr. Pomeranz estimated that bad reactions to prescription and over-the-counter medicines kill more than 100,000 (76,000 to 137,000) Americans and seriously injure an additional 2.1 million every year. Such reactions, which do not include prescribing errors or drug abuse, rank between fourth and sixth among causes of death. His study was published in the April 15, 1998 Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA), but garnered little publicity.
One month later, the same American Medical Association explained why Americans are following the Japanese lead and have turned in massive numbers to the so-called Alternative Medicine. The surprising answer? People think it works better! The surprising study appeared in the May 20, 1998 JAMA entitled WHY PATIENTS USE ALTERNATIVE MEDICINE (p. 1548-1553).
I don't know Jahnavi Sarma gets his information, but vitamins, unlike minerals, are renown for being safe at ultra-high dosages. Such dosages are routinely administered by physicians trained in orthomolecular medicine without causing "severe" toxicities. Some vitamins may cause minor issues, which usually clear by reducing the vitamin dosage. And unlike drugs, all vitamins are necessary components of our diet. We die unless eat some amount of ever vitamin. No Deaths from ANY Vitamin
Zero Fatalities from Any Dietary Supplement, e.g. Minerals, Vitamins, Amino Acids, Herbs, Homeopathic Remedies
(OMNS Jan 16, 2015) There was not even one death caused by any dietary supplement in 2013, according to the most recent information collected by the U.S. National Poison Data System. The new 251-page annual report of the American Association of Poison Control Centers, published in the journal Clinical Toxicology (1), shows no deaths whatsoever from any dietary supplement.
Additionally, there were zero deaths from any amino acid or herbal product. This means no deaths at all from blue cohosh, echinacea, ginkgo biloba, ginseng, kava kava, St. John's wort, valerian, yohimbe, Asian medicines, ayurvedic medicines, or any other botanical. There were zero deaths from creatine, blue-green algae, glucosamine, chondroitin, melatonin, or any homeopathic remedy.
Furthermore, there were zero deaths from any dietary mineral supplement. This means there were no fatalities from calcium, magnesium, chromium, zinc, colloidal silver, selenium, iron, or multimineral supplements. Reported in the "Electrolyte and Mineral" category were two fatalities from the medical use of "Sodium and sodium salts." These are not dietary supplements.
The U.S. National Poison Data System is "the only comprehensive, near real-time, poisoning surveillance database in the United States. In 2013, poison professionals at the nation's 55 poison centers managed about 2.2 million human poison exposures, with children younger than 6 accounting for about half of all poison exposure cases."
Over half of the U.S. population takes daily nutritional supplements. Even if each of those people took only one single tablet daily, that makes 154,000,000 individual doses per day, for a total of over 56 billion doses annually. Since many persons take more than just one vitamin or mineral tablet, the numbers are considerably higher, and the safety of nutritional supplements is all the more remarkable

Some vitamins may be toxic when taken at high doses such as Vitamin A, Vitamin E and Niacin and Vitamin C

This rather innocuous example of the BIG LIE is designed to keep doctors in line. This is med news. It reinforces what they believe is their accurate knowledge, but contains at least one BIG LIE, i.e., hat vitamin C may cause kidney stones. They get around actually proving by saying... "Doctors believe ..."

Of course, every article is true. If one doesn't know how to verify studies.Take your B-vitamins, Multi-minerals, vitamin A, E, D and K beside the little vitamin C you're using, to be safe, and Linus Pauling recommended to maintain good health. Even quiting vitamin C wouldn't be sufficient, your still getting it from foods. Obviously, otherwise you would suffer from scurvy already. Therefore better take the Bs anyway. One doctor many decades ago raised the IQ of Down syndrom children by 20 points by high dose B-vitamins: http://www.doctoryourself.com/downs.html
