As for your question about olive oil, here are some articles about it
from lef.org:

I decided to go with monounsaturated rather than polyunsaturated.
Personally, I think I do feel better after the switch.

If you take a look at the make-up of canola oil http://ndb.nal.usda.gov/ndb/search/list, you'll find it is essentially identical to olive oil, e.g. they are both high mono-saturated fat type oils. I will most certainly agree, if one can ingest only raw/unprocessed oil, e.g. "extra virgin," that is always better [regardless of which oil you are ingesting]. Whether "raw/unprocessed" canola oil is available commercially, I do not know.
Thanks for your response, Kohl.
Just my "two cents worth,"
David

ofonorow wrote:Obviously this is wonderful news, and the smaller vitamin C/lysine dosage matches the case of my uncle's carotids that I wrote about in PMWAL. I have never heard of it working with a 100% blockage, however, and suspect the high dosage lecithin was probably involved. (I/V lecithin is used in Europe for heart disease.)
In my uncle's case, after a car accident he had ultrasounds and they detected 90% and 70% blockages in his carotid arteries. They operated on the 90%, scraped out the white plaque and showed it to my aunt and uncle, and he felt much better. They schedule the second operation on the 70% side for a month later.
My Aunt knowing what I was recommending (almost) put my uncle on 5 pills of vitamin C and 5 pills of lysine daily for that month. (They were 500 mg pills, so instead of the recommended 5000/5000, my uncle only got 2500/2500 per day.)
My Aunt call after the second surgery exciting telling me that the doctors searched up and down (he was more swollen than the first operation) but could find no plaque!
For some people, a lower dosage can be effective. It would be wonderful if some research was taking place.
