It is interesting that our friend with the advanced science in his ear agrees with Dr. Levy, more often than not. They write in Life Changing Foods, pg. 26.

Their importance, though -- and just how many different types exist and are abundant in fruits, vegetables, herbs and spices, and wild foods -- goes beyond even what scientific research has discovered. Oxidation is a chemical reaction of the body's organ tissue with an invader - that is, a toxin. On top of the toxins themselves causing damage, the free radicals that the reaction produces wreak havoc on the body, deteriorating cells and causing aging. Oxidation of toxic heavy metals in the brain is especially damaging and is frequently behind brain fog, memory loss, dementia, and Alzheimer's. And when radiation and DDT are present in the brain, they can kill brain tissue, causing it to oxidize at a rapid rate. Antioxidants fight all of this. When you think antioxidants, think anti-aging. They bond to both toxins and and free radicals, stick to these invaders like fly paper so they stop oxidizing -- and binding them up for express shipment ouf of the body.
