"taurine may attenuate the progression of atherosclerosis due to its ability to lower serum lipids and reduce the oxidation of LDL,"

sounds like it does the same as lysine

There are apparently many wonderful benefits from taking 1-3 g of taurine daily, no doubt.

However, lysine (and proline) work their anti-atheroscleroris magic on the lysine (and proline) binding sites on the Lp(a) cholesterol molecule. By binding to these receptors, the lysine keeps Lp(a) from "sticking." Lp(a) would otherwise stick to lysine and proline residues on damaged arteries.
