Eye irritated from overly strong saline solution

Post by Blanko » Sun Aug 25, 2024 9:08 pm

Used a strong saline solution in the affected eye and didn't rinse out the solution, instead allowed the eye to sting, get bloodshot red, and restore balance through its own tears. Did this to disinfect the eye after using a thick whipped cream (bottled, organic, not canned) to treat a jalapeno injury. Fresh jalapeno was laced with warm olive oil when it splashed into eye.

Wasn't necessarily thinking straight, just was tired of the irritation and thought maybe there was a low-grade infection of some kind causing the irritation I felt, which was several days after the initial incident involving the jalapeno and then cream remedy. I used high-fat cream because it was all I had. Online sources suggested using milk. Subsequently I rinsed it using tap water.

Days later, still irritated, I tried the salt solution as mentioned to purify any irritating microorganisms in the eye. The salt I used was Redmond "Real Salt" in Fine grain size.

Anyway, eye remains irritated and vision seems marginally affected. Anything you can suggest to help my eye properly heal back to normal?

Eye looks similar to unaffected eye but unaffected eye has no discomfort at all and affected eye exhibits nagging irritation.
